This jet black is named after the famous AC/DC song and album! Created in 1980, this song refers to the dark times the band experienced after the death of its first singer, Bon Scott.
Scott was a rock genius, an artist with a limitless energy that impacted the 70’s leaving a huge void in the band and in worldwide rock.
A few days after burying their deceased partner, the group went to London searching for a new vocalist. They thought of Steve Marriott from Small Faces; Angry Anderson from Rose Tattoo; Gary Pickford Hopkins from Journey to the Centre of the Earth; and Stevie Wright, who had sung with one of the most popular Australian rock bands of the 1960s, Easybeats. But according to the legend, one day they received a letter from a fan who told them about a certain Brian Johnson, who sang in the band Geordie: "Bon Scott really liked it," the letter said. AC/DC members didn't take it seriously, but that quote was actually key to Johnson's choice.
Still, the most difficult thing would be to record an album that would seduce AC/DC fans and live up to their previous hit "Highway to Hell." That album turned out being "Back in Black", a duel for Bon Scott that, against all odds, would end up being the best-selling studio work in the band's history, and also in popular music. With fifty million copies sold, it is the second most commercially successful album on the planet, after Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
